Public Feedback: Bridgeport Memorial Park Playground Rehabilitation - Proposed Site Design
Dear Bridgeport Residents,
Over the past several months, an ad hoc committee of Borough officials and staff have been working diligently to create a modern, safe, and accessible design for the rehabilitated Bridgeport Memorial Park Playground. You may have noticed progress towards that goal with the ongoing demolition and removal by staff of the existing structures and surfacing, starting on June 29th, 2026.
That work has now culminated with a proposed site design and a proposal for new play structures from General Recreation Inc., both of which the committee would like to share with the community for their feedback. Borough Council will be reviewing the committee's proposed site design and General Recreation's proposal at its Tuesday, July 21, 2026 meeting at 7:30 pm.
While the recently refurbished swing sets will remain, the proposed design sees the prior play structures, rubber mulch, and fencing removed and replaced with all new play structures and surfacing. Key improvements to the playground will include over 21,000 square feet of pour in place surfacing installed around principal play structures, an ADA-compliant swing, and multiple accessible play structures that will together create a much more accessible play space. Additionally, shade sales, new benches and trash cans, and new walking trails will provide greater comfort and functionality on the site.
