Montgomery County Issues Weather Warning Ahead of Incoming Storm Front

This is Situational Awareness Notice #23-16-003 for the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety. This report applies to the Storm Update for Sunday, December 10th through Monday, December 11th.

Significant event details and developments:

1. A Flood Watch is now in effect beginning Sunday (12/10) 1:00 PM through Monday (12/11) 4:00 PM. A Gale Watch is also in effect.

2. A low pressure system will develop along a robust cold front moving through Sunday afternoon through Monday afternoon.

3. Rain is expected to overspread our entire area on Sunday and taper off Monday morning. River flooding may begin as soon as late Sunday or early Monday. Minor coastal flooding is also possible on Sunday.

4. Minor river flooding is most likely late Sunday through Monday. If rainfall is heavier than expected, isolated moderate river flooding may occur, particularly in some of the smaller, flashy river basins.

5. There is high confidence in a widespread rainfall of at least 1-3” on Sunday and Sunday night. Confidence in minor river flooding is increasing, but still depends on the exact placement of the heaviest rainfall.
