Montgomery County issues severe weather warning for Thursday July 27, Heat advisory through Friday July 28

This is Situational Awareness Notice #23-11-005 for the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety. This report applies to the Severe Weather Update for Thursday 7/27 & Heat Advisories through 7/28.

Significant event details and developments:

1. There is a Slight risk for severe thunderstorms on Thursday, 7/27. There is a Marginal risk of excessive rainfall which may lead to flash flooding. The main period of concern has been updated to be 2pm to 10pm.

2. Some storms may be severe with damaging wind gusts (60-70mph) and heavy rain with localized flash flooding.

3. Building heat is expected through Friday with the heat index values 105-109 on Friday, July 28.

4. A Heat Advisory has been issued for Montgomery County on Thursday, 7/27. An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for the eastern portion of the county on Friday, 7/28 while the western portion of the county remains in a Heat Advisory.

5. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms possible for Friday, 7/28

6. Additional Heat Advisories may be needed Saturday for the urban corridor. Late day and evening showers and thunderstorms are likely on Saturday with damaging winds and localized flash flooding possible.
