Montgomery County issues severe weather warning for Monday June 26, 2pm to Midnight

 

This is Situational Awareness Notice #23-05-004 for the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety. This report applies to the Severe Thunderstorms/Flash Flooding Expected Monday, June 26th.. 

 

 

Significant event details and developments:

 

1. A Flood Watch has been issued for the western end of Montgomery County starting at 2pm and ending at midnight, which could expand to eastern Montgomery County as the storm progresses. Excessive rainfall rates could result in scattered local flash flooding, especially in urban areas and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

 

2. Severe thunderstorm possibility has been upgraded to an enhanced risk, with numerous severe thunderstorms now probable. The expected timing of severe thunderstorms is between 2pm and 10pm moving west to east, with the greatest potential after 4pm.

 

3. Damaging wind gusts of 60-70mph and large hail are possible, which would likely damage trees and power lines. Storms should produce frequent cloud to ground lightning. Tornado potential is low.

 

4. Greatest damaging wind potential will come with any organized squall line that develops. 

For any residents that live in low lying areas, please watch the weather for additional updates, monitor conditions outside, and consider moving vehicles and personal belongings outside of the potential flooding area.
