Montgomery County issues severe weather warning for 7/25 - 7/27

This is Situational Awareness Notice #23-11-002 for the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety. This report applies to the Severe Weather Update for 7/25 -7/27.

Significant event details and developments:

1. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across the region this afternoon and early evening. Montgomery County continues to have a Marginal risk for severe weather and a Slight risk of excessive rainfall.

2. Storms will be capable of producing very heavy rainfall with the threat of flash flooding, mainly for areas along and north/west of the urban corridor. Storms will be capable of producing locally damaging winds and hail.

3. Storms are expected to diminish across the area by mid to late evening.

4. There is a Slight risk for severe thunderstorms on Thursday, 7/27 with damaging wind gusts likely to be the greatest threat. The evolution of this threat remains unclear at this time.

5. Building heat is expected for Wednesday through Friday with the heat index potentially reaching the 100 to 105+ range beginning Thursday. Friday is the hottest day of the heat wave, but hot and humid conditions may persist through Saturday.
