Montgomery County issues severe weather update for 7/28 and 7/29

This is Situational Awareness Notice #23-11-007 for the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety. This report applies to the Heat Advisory and Severe Weather Update for 7/28 & 7/29.

Significant event details and developments:

1. There is now a Marginal risk for severe weather across most of the county for this afternoon (7/28). The primary threat is locally damaging wind gusts.

2. There is a slight risk of Severe weather on Saturday afternoon and evening, 7/29 and a Marginal risk of excessive rainfall which may lead to flash flooding. Some storms may be severe with damaging wind gusts (60-70mph) and heavy rain leading to the potential for localized flash flooding.

3. An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for the eastern portion of the county on Friday, 7/28 while the western portion of the county remains in a Heat Advisory as the Heat Index values will range from 100 to 110. Heat Advisories may be needed Saturday for the urban corridor.
