Severe Weather Warning for Montgomery County, July 21,  Friday early AM

This is Situational Awareness Notice #23-10-002 for the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety. This report applies to the Severe Weather and Flooding Possible Tomorrow, Friday July 21st. 

 

1. Severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and heavy rain leading to flash flooding. A tornado or two cannot be ruled out.

 

2. Montgomery County is in the Thunderstorms, Marginal and Slight Risk categories for Severe Weather and Marginal and Slight Risk categories for excessive rainfall leading to rapid onset flooding.

 

3. A squall line of thunderstorms looks likely to affect portions of the region as early as 1 AM. Storms should weaken and move out of the area by the mid to late morning, with another round of showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon on Friday, continuing into the evening.

 

4. Severe thunderstorms could produce damaging wind gusts up to 70 MPH, resulting in damage to trees and power-lines. Excessive rainfall rates could result in flash flooding.

 

5. High confidence in thunderstorms producing localized flooding. Moderate confidence in occurrence of thunderstorms producing damaging wind gusts. Moderate confidence on storm coverage and timing in the morning, with low confidence in coverage and timing for the afternoon.
