PAWC TO BEGIN FOURTH STREET WATER LINE REPLACEMENT PROJECT ON SEPTEMBER 28

Below please find a press release from Pennsylvania American Water Company (PAWC), announcing that they will begin a major water line replacement project on Fourth Street (Route 23) beginning on Monday, September 28, 2020. The construction is expected to last about 3 months, with final paving restoration scheduled for Spring 2021. PAWC says to expect one lane traffic restrictions on most days, with no parking restrictions limited to the immediate area they are working on that particular day. Pennsylvania American Water to Begin $1.6 Million Water Line Upgrade in Bridgeport Borough

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (September 25, 2020) – Pennsylvania American Water announced the start of a major construction project to replace a section of water main, as well as utility-owned service lines and fire hydrants, in Bridgeport Borough to improve water service reliability and fire protection for area residents and businesses. The cost of the project is approximately $1,600,000 and will upgrade aging and undersized six-inch cast iron pipe.

Beginning September 28, crews will install nearly 2,700 feet of new 12-inch ductile iron water main on East Fourth Street between Depot Street and Coates Streets. Construction will conclude in winter 2021 and final paving restoration is scheduled for spring 2021, weather permitting.

Crews will work between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Motorists are urged to give themselves extra time and exercise caution when traveling through the work zone. During construction, customers might experience temporary water service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure.
