Important Notice: Proposed Relocation of Polling Places

Attention Bridgeport Residents:

Below please view the message from Montgomery County Voter Services. Please note that under this plan, all three of Bridgeport's polling locations would be moved to Bridgeport Elementary, 900 Bush Street. As the message below indicates, this change would only affect the Primary Election, which has already been rescheduled to June 2nd. The County believes that all polling locations would return to their normal locations for the General Election this fall. Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Recent Amendments to the Pennsylvania Election Code allow for a one-time consolidation of polling locations for the 2020 Primary Election to ease the burdens being felt by counties regarding their abilities to administer the election during the current COVID-19 epidemic. The change to the law allows for a 60% reduction of our polling locations county wide. During the course of a normal election we operate with 352 polling locations, of which you are one. For this election, the Election Board is considering a plan to reduce that number to 140 which is the lowest number we are allowed to go to under the amended law.

The consolidation of precincts brings with it a variety of logistical requirements to consider ranging from locating facilities with adequate space to house multiple precincts to identifying places where we can minimize the interactions with, and impacts to, our community at large, especially those who are more vulnerable if exposed. With this in mind, the County Board of Elections is considering a proposal to relocate all polling locations to Montgomery County public school buildings.

The Board will meet on May 11th to vote on this proposal and if it is adopted the polling place that is currently housed in your facility will  be relocated for the Primary Election. However, please keep in mind that this would be a temporary change that applies only to this election and that we fully anticipate all precincts would return to their normal locations for the General Election in the fall.
